Ergonomics is the scientific study of the relationship between people, their resources, their methods and their working environments. It’s the application of this knowledge in designing systems that can be used with the maximum comfort, safety and efficiency. The aeronautics industry has been better than most at applying these ideas, particularly to its cockpits, dashboard designs, and more. In aeronautics as anywhere else, the main goals of ergonomics are to facilitate human-machine relationships, speed human adaptation to workloads and guarantee reliability in the different elements used.
